Excellent lunch, Excellent dinner

Made up a new list of restaurants I have to try., Managed to knock off two of them in the same day, and they both turned out to be absolutely awesome.

For lunch, we headed down to the Village to the oddly named Local Foods. A gourmet sandwich place/deli, adjacent to the Benjy's there. Snapped a few pictures with my phone, later discovering I had slipped my camera in my purse. Forgetful me.

If you can't tell by the name, this is a farm-to-table place, great food for an incredible value. We got 2 sandwiches, each came with 2 small sides, tea and a glass of wine all for 28 bucks.

I got a falafel sandwich, Scott's was their crunchy chicken.

Geaux Saints, right? In the Village (I know, I said that) on the corner of  Kelvin and Dunstan.

If eating out once wasn't enough, I managed to convince Scott we needed to try this place called Roost, down in Montrose. Another farm-to-table place, and OMG, was it wonderful! But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Tiny, tiny place. Tends to get crowded in the evening so try to go 4 to 7pm or after 9pm. I really liked the attitude of the wait staff, the best word I can come up for them is "perky". Happy, Happy, cheerful waiters, I kid you not. One of them we knew from Haven and before that Brennan's, name of Albert.

Oh wow, all the pictures came out terrible, remind me to check the settings on my camera. Only putting up two. They charge for the bread service as an appetizer, but it was excellent. Next we had the soup of the day, a very tasty shrimp bisque with a smidgen of gremolata on top. For entrees, I had the fish of the day, a grouper from the Gulf, and Scott had the chicken breast. For dessert, some donut holes.

Something Scott really liked was all this and it still came out to under $100. More like $70 before tip including my glass of wine
.
Everything was stunning. I can't recommend this place enough.  Roost, on the corner of Fairview and Hazard streets.

Before I forget, if you're still wondering, the other restaurants in no particular oder are Coppa, Philippe, Plonk, the Bird & the Bear, Libery Kitchen & Oyster Bar, and Triniti.
